The Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for a tenure-track position in inorganic chemistry at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with an anticipated start date of August 2027. We seek a candidate whose research and teaching interests focus on the design and synthesis of materials that exhibit novel electronic and magnetic properties with potential applications in quantum technologies, spintronics, and nanoelectronics. Examples of relevant materials include but are not limited to semiconductor nanostructures for single-photon emission, van der Waals heterostructures, topological materials, molecular spin chains, and chemically tailored qubits. It is anticipated that the successful candidate’s research will create opportunities for collaboration with researchers in physics as well as materials science and engineering. Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to teach undergraduate and graduate chemistry courses.
UNL is a land grant institution with a strong commitment to research, teaching, outreach, and service. UNL is a Carnegie Foundation “Doctoral Universities: Highest Research Activity” university and is committed to further strengthening its research standing.
A Ph.D. in chemistry or an allied discipline is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of scholarly activity as evidenced by a significant publication record, the potential for developing an externally funded research program in inorganic chemistry, and expertise in the teaching of chemistry content or pedagogy to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
Review of applications will begin December 8, 2026, and continue until the position has been filled. To be considered, visit https://employment.unl.edu, requisition F_260096.
