Postdoctoral Fellow – Single Molecule Imaging of Nucleocytoplasmic Transport

A postdoctoral fellow is sought to probe various aspects of nucleocytoplasmic transport using a variety of single particle tracking and super-resolution microscopy methods. The successful applicant will continue within a long-standing project building on recent breakthroughs in rapid multi-color 3D imaging. Structural and dynamical aspects of the nuclear pore permeability barrier and cargo trafficking pathways will be resolved with high spatial (< 10 nm) and millisecond-scale resolution.


This is a demanding project that requires considerable technical and analytical expertise. A strong background and training in quantitative biology, with PhD emphasis ranging from physics to cell biology, is expected. A demonstrated interest in light microscopy, biophysics and method development is essential. Candidates with a strong background in image analysis and MATLAB programming are especially encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be highly-motivated and will be able to work independently. The successful applicant will purify his/her own reagents, perform the microscopy experiments, and develop algorithms to analyze the results.
